I have i! I! Eva, hi!

I have no friends named Eva, but no sacrifice is too great for a palindrome. And I do have i. (The new Magnetic Fields album.) In its cool cutout packaging and all. So far I like it better than Memories of Love (although the puzzles were cool), but nothing really equals 69 Love Songs. Numerically for one. (i) Hmm, but that sounds like I'm dismissing the album before I've even heard it through.
I like the sound-- atmospheric. I like the mood-- forlorn, dispirited, quietly sarcastic. The Divine S.M. sings higher than usual, with poignant results. I like "I Don't Believe You" immensely. I think a lot of people have said they liked "It's Only Time," which I am prepared to like but don't know well enough yet.
I should point out that I am an absolutely awful listener with an affection for Catchy Hooks and singles. I am the dream audience for greatest hits albums, albeit for altie bands. Just keep it in mind. I'll take your wittiest lyrics to your goofiest music, thanks.
This should mean that SM and I get along quite well, since he says he only likes "experimental music and bubblegum," and that about does it for me as well. Although I would use up one wish out of three to have him discover the Magic of Bass, and I worry about people who say they don't listen to any new music.
Oh, that's very nice. "My heard pounds," he sings, and the music pauses for a beat before marching on.
I note with pleasure that I am (and the co-conspirator is) made mention of in a grumpy bastard's blog.

I suppose I knew I didn't invent it.

I notice Mao the Left Shoulder Cat has had but little mention of late. He eats and sleeps and gets into invisible fights late at night, coming back with scars and the glint of victory in his eye -- which is a lie. He is a terrible bottom, and picks fights just to get the fur knocked off him. Then again. There are all kinds of victories.
