it's meme day again

At 4:14 I noticed the sunset brightening over the city. Lovely and frightening in its earliness. Like a mistake. Sunset switched on too soon. Bucket of sunset kicked over with your boot and spread all across the sky before you noticed and tried to clean it up.
Candy Update
The flat yellow ones are lovely little lemon pastilles whose first powdered-sugar taste exhales the memory of visiting Barkerville as a child; sugar-candies, rock-candies, bannock, and root beer. Tongue now completely lacerated from recreating Proustian sense-memory over and over.
And the actual meme
If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else. This is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).
I'm picking up this meme to throw a log on my urge to write. (Considering my urge as a fire in need of fuel, say, rather than a small animal, which would be crushed.)
At the moment, the available material is a little thin. I have lots of unfinished projects, but I haven't worked on them in so long that they don't feel current. And most of the current short stuff goes up here.
So the best I can do is:
[From unnamed writing exercise]:
"Speak to me not of Oil!" cried the Salt, who was sensitive on exactly that point.
As filler, let me add two of my all-time favorite lines, both from ancient issues of my comic book:
[spits on the ground] Assume this gob is capitalism.
[name of northern BC town] Fort St. Lac du Some Big Animal
If you're working on something and don't have an LJ, feel free to post it in the comments field.
Misheard Lyric of the day:
From the Me First and the Gimme Gimmes cover of "A Few of My Favorite Things":
"wild geese that fly with" heard as "brown piece of plywood"
