Jan. 8th, 2005 10:58 amI didn't die! Huzzah.
And I am no longer allowed to say that I am one of those people who "never wins anything." I think I do say that sometimes, and it is now manifestly untrue. For lo, I won on both Scratch'N'Wins that Grumpy Bastard's excellent mother gave me in my Despair Day Plastic Bag. I won $2, and I won $100.
How about that.
Projected Spending of My Winnings:
-Fixing printer so can become famous writer (see various prev references)
-Taking G.B. and E.M. (Excellent Mother) to see The Aviator in celebration
-wild abandon
Actual spending to date:
-vending machine food dinner at work (Cafe next door closed due to storm.)
But I think I will pretend that came out of my paycheque instead and start over with the $100, which really ought only to go towards Joyful Things.
I got my first paycheque yesterday, (Yay!) to discover that I am having money deducted for the employee bus pass. Which is logical, since I signed up for it, but awkward, since B.C. Transit never called me, and when they do, it won't be to give me a cheap bus pass, but to ask me politely but firmly for all the money I owe them for quitting my last employee bus pass deal before the year was up.
Sigh.
The Winning Card was one of those crossword puzzle ones, and if you have a sequence of letters, but not a whole word, it can look like you have extra words. So for a moment I had the wild suspicion that I'd won $1000. I am rather pleased with myself that I noticed no particular disappointment when I recalculated.
I'm glad I spent all that time planning what to do if I ever won the lottery. I've worked out various plans for each level of winnings. I can quite exhaust myself trying to figure out who's going to be on the board of directors for the Institute of Giving Away Stuff (IGAF), and I usually end up glad that I haven't won anything, since it seems like so much trouble.
But this is a nice little bit of luck, and I am Pleased. And will be very much moreso if I can have a working printer in my life, since it feels like the Last (and Suprise!) barrier to the New Life.
